The City Gala Oscars After Party 2019

On Sunday night as Hollywood celebrated the film industry’s glitziest night of the year, City Summit ended their week of star-studded events with the City Gala glamorous Oscars afterparty. The event included appearances from high profile guests, such as Wesley Snipes and Colin Farrell, as well as local businessmen and entrepreneurs. The red carpet was full of fashionable looks and stars including Kevin Harrington, Randy Jackson, Mario Lopez, and Frank Shankwitz.

Hollywood Glam got exclusive interviews with some of the stars on the red carpet including Lynn Rose, songwriter Stephanie Valencia and several other celebs.

Stephanie Valencia was wearing a beautiful red dress for the event and talked to Hollywood Glam about her look for the night as well as some of her latest projects.

“So, I’m a singer/songwriter, I’m a motivational speaker for young women, and I just feel like there’s nothing I can’t do, I’m not gonna lie to you. So, I go and speak to young girls in at-risk neighborhoods, in continuation schools, I speak to young girls that even just say “hey, would you mind just talking to me”, and it’s just about inspiring them like hey, you can do this. It’s kind of being that voice that they just need to hear that’s motivating them, it’s like really let’s go over this. Right now, I’m helping a girl who’s trying to get ready for her wedding and she’s trying to just not to be stressed out, and everyday I’m like sure, no problem, there’s no quest too big or too small for me, I’m not gonna lie.”

Besides her work in the community she is also passionate about including empowering messages in her music as well.

She said, “So my songs are about experiences. Many times, it has to do with a relationship, what really brings a girl down to little bitty teeny tiny pieces: it can be a relationship and that goes completely south. Where they feel they’re not pretty, they’re not thin enough, they don’t compare to the girl next door or the girl in the magazine, and they don’t carry themselves well. And what I tell them it’s the number one thing: it’s kind of hopefully I have that ah ha moment with some girl where she’s like: oh my God, that was me and at the end of my songs. I’m always like now, I’m rising up now, I’m strong and I’m moving forward. I tell people all the time I can make sweats look so freaking cute because I feel cute in them. But if you constantly remind someone, I don’t look good today like if a guy gives a compliment to a girl: oh you look so lovely today! and a girl will tell him: no, I don’t. You are basically a salesman of yourself and you just told this person, I am not a pretty person. Beauty is really in the eye of the beholder.”

Stephanie was embodying her own advice for the event and told us about the dress she was wearing saying, “I am wearing a dress that somebody bought for me and I just feel that it was appropriate because it made me feel good. And I’m wearing some Jessica Simpson heels and some fun jewelry and some Aqua de Joie because I’m all about perfume I love perfume!”

The event continued with a fashion show and a presentation of the Hero Award given out by the City Gala and City Summit founder Ryan Long who also gave an interview to Hollywood Glam Magazine. Ryan talked about his long-term goals for the summit and accompanying programs saying he was planning on continuing to grow it in the future and hoping to see more collaborations and projects coming out of it. He talked about how he’d seen it change and grow since founding it back in 2013. He was so excited to kick off the Gala saying he couldn’t wait to celebrate the end of a successful week of panels.

Then, Colin Farrell took the stage giving the audience some laughs and a great time to close out the night.

My pieces are very wearable, they are not super editorial; there is a lot of lace (used for the collection – LK), silk, a lot of beading and crystal hand work, just different mixture. Doriskath

Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection: M.E.

“M.E.” is inspired by the “mirror stage” concept developed by the French psychologist Jacques Lacan. He believed that infants recognize themselves in a mirror, which induces a perception that might be a twisted self-perception. “M.E.” is an elaboration of the contrast between this imaginary projection and the real self – which avoids stereotypes but combines beautifully both feminine and masculine design elements.

House of V

Born in Hong Kong and with an international upbringing, Cynthia Mak graduated with distinction from the Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London. Her final-year collection garnered praise from Vogue Italy, which called her one of the “New Talents” to watch out for. Ms Mak has worked at international brands such as Alexander McQueen and Vivienne Westwood, and currently collaborates with HOUSE OF V on a range of innovative designs.

Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection: The New Winter Manual

“The New Winter Manual” commemorates the renowned British contemporary artist Damien Hirst and is inspired by his iconic series of spot paintings. The collection depicts the perfect interaction among random colors — which the artist considers the most fundamental in any kind of art — incorporating a series of colorful round buttons to make the simple and minimalistic silhouette more dimensional.

Loom Loop

Designer Polly Ho graduated in Arts and Design from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and the University of Central England. She established LOOM LOOP after her Guangdong trip on which she discovered an extant fabric “Canton Silk”. Ms. Ho was honored with the Design for Asia Award 2015 (Bronze), Perspective’s 40 under 40 Award and HKDA Global Design Awards (Silver and Hong Kong Best) in 2016. She presented her collections at Tokyo Fashion Week from 2015 to 2017, and New York Fashion Week in February 2016 and 2017.Autumn/Winter 2019 marks her debut collection at London Fashion Week.

Autumn/Winter 2019 Collection: Concrete Jungle

Hong Kong is unique and fascinating for its exciting fusion of Eastern and Western, ancient and modern cultures. “Concrete Jungle” was inspired by a unique Chinese symbol, the tiger, which often features in traditional Chinese architecture in Hong Kong. In antiquity, tigers were often painted going uphill and downhill, reflecting the belief that climbing tigers symbolize wealth while descending tigers can ward off evil spirits and bring peace. This collection aims to highlight the unique “East-Meets-West” culture of Hong Kong.

Yeung Chin

Yeung Chin obtained his masters in Fashion Design from the University of Westminster in London. He won a Special Mention Award at the 2003 Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) and established his brand YEUNG CHIN in 2013. The designer presented his collections at fashion week events in Milan, Paris, New York, Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing from 2015 to 2017 and held exhibitions at the UK Cheers Exhibition, Singapore Design Centre and Hong Kong Asia Society Gallery, among others.

Autumn/Winter Collection: Utopia

“Utopia” was inspired by controversial scenes in two military movies – the 1974 Italian psychodrama The Night Porter and 2018 American spy thriller Red Sparrow.

Our Vodka Launches in the DTLA Arts District

0

February 6th, 2019, Los Angeles, CA

On Wednesday February 6th Our Vodka celebrated the opening of their DTLA brewery in the Arts District with an amazing party and some signature cocktails. The brand has several locations around the world but LA is their newest venture. According to Rupert, one of the Our Vodka LA reps they chose downtown LA over other popular party neighborhoods like Santa Monica or Hollywood because “The arts district is an up and coming neighborhood and DTLA is getting a lot of trendy boutiques and the new Soho house just opened up down the street. We wanted to choose somewhere close to the art scene and we got lucky that this whole area started to explode.”

The party kicked off with tasters of the brand’s signature vodka including their version of an Old Fashioned as well as specialty creations like their espresso martini. Everyone enjoyed the drinks as well as the delicious food truck outside while the party got going. Then Hollywood Glam Magazine got an exclusive tour of the distillery where reps explained the unique fermentation process, they use and showed off their custom equipment. The vodka is only distilled once, however their custom distillery has a special shape which also affects the flavor and each batch is carefully monitored for quality and flavor.

Our Vodka got it’s start in Berlin then quickly grew in popularity opening up locations in London and Stockholm before coming to America. Their first stop in the US was New York City and that distillery has some very unique history. It is the first distillery to open in the city since the prohibition. Our Vodka is all about creating unique experiences and flavors inspired by the culture around them. That’s why each city has its own unique flavors created specifically for that locale. No two drinks are alike whether you’re in London or Detroit you’ll find an array of combinations to explore. Our Vodka uses varying ingredients like wheat and potatoes that are locally sourced in order to create the best flavors for each city. One thing that is consistent across the brand though is the quality and the wheat that they use which comes from Sweden.

LA definitely has its own unique culture and the crowd as well as the vodka embodied the west coast lifestyle perfectly.

“I am honored to design for McLaren 570GT, McLaren is such an elegant and reputable brand! When I was invited to design this car, I incorporated the Chinese noble essence of the dragon and particularly Chinese embroidery technique to create the design. The dragon is going to the direction you are driving, and there is no head because a driver’s head will complete the dragon. You are the head of the dragon, and a dragon is the most noble sign in China”, – said Cabbeen about the McLaren 570GT design.

The car he designed for McLaren was one of the six cars that can be purchased outside of China. All the cars are available through McLaren Beverly Hills. The last six digits of the VIN are 888 888, and 8 is the luckiest number in Chinese culture.
Dragon is not just a symbol of royalty, good luck, power, it’s quite a symbol of China. Today Chinese way is to integrate Chinese traditional elements to global trends. More and more young people in China pay attention to Chinese heritage, and Mr. Cabbeen’s technique is based on integration of main Chinese historical elements in global trends.
