On February 16 the following designers were scheduled to showcase their collections at London Fashion Week:
On February 9th, FHI Heat teamed up with fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra as the exclusive hair care sponsor of his Autumn/Winter 2018 Runway Show at NYFW.
On February 9th, FHI Heat, a leading global innovator of professional styling tools, products and accessories teamed up with fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra as the exclusive hair care sponsor of his A/W 2018 Runway Show at NYFW. FHI Heat’s Artistic Director and Key Hair Artist Sean James designed the show’s look and led the FHI Heat team of fifteen hand-picked hair stylists.
“When brought on to design the hair look for a runway show, my job is to manifest and execute the designer’s vision for his or her collection through the models’ hair. During our hair test, I had the opportunity to speak with Bibhu and he shared the inspiration for his collection and the beautiful story behind it. It was inspired by Francesco Clemente’s portraits from the film “Great Expectations” by Charles Dickens, and the unusual relationship between Miss Havisham and her adopted daughter Estella. Bibhu, and the show’s stylist Anya Ziourova, wanted the hair to look childlike and specifically undone, reflecting a little girl dressing up in her mother’s clothing. It’s a relatable look, an everyday, undressed wave for the confident woman of the world.” – Sean James, FHI Heat
In order to achieve the look, Sean and his team utilized the following FHI Heat tools and products:
** FHI Heat Platform Nano Salon Pro 2000 Hair Dryer
** FHI Heat Platform Professional Curling Iron
** FHI Heat Platform Professional Styling Iron
** FHI Heat UnBrush
** STYLUS High Altitude Root Lift Spray
** STYLUS Stay Put Mega Hold Hair Spray
** STYLUS Total Control Maximum Hold Gel

About Simply Inc:
In 2012, founder Sarah Boyd created Simply Inc. as an agency specializing in events and brand collaborations. Soon after, she noticed a missing link between people trying to make their way in the fashion and beauty industries and those leading the fashion and beauty industries. She saw the opportunity to connect these two stylish and driven groups by creating events that would bring together key tastemakers to share, inspire and educate anyone who was interested in hearing about their thoughts and experiences. As it turns out, a lot of people wanted to hear what our chic and knowledgeable panelists had to say. And thus, Simply Stylist was born. In 2014, Simply Digital Network was created to assist celebrity bloggers navigate the digital space and monetize their blogs. www.simply-inc.com | @Simply

Dior Homme pop-up store, Los Angeles, February 15, 2018
On February 15 the young Hollywood elite celebrated the Dior Homme Pop-Up Store Opening private party launched in collaboration with 424 Fairfax. Guests had a chance to take a look at the new Spring Denim collection, displayed shoes and accessories, enjoy snacks and cocktails, and dance all night. The attendees included rap mogul Kareem “Biggs” Burke, Josephine Pearl Lee, fashion stylist Lidah Luv, and Slovenian-born model Michaela Vybohova.
Entertainment was provided by famous DJ Bradley Soileau.
“On the occasion of Spring 2018 Season Dior Homme presents a Dior Denim collection by Kris Van Assche, in a casual re-interpretation of the tropes of a Dior Homme suit. Revisiting the urban pairing of straight leg 5-pocket jeans with denim shirt and jacket styles, the idea of “double-denim” is underpinned by the classic touch of crisp shirting and a silk necktie. The iconic silver-embossed black leather “Dior” logo tab is revisited as an external embellishment, shifting from the inside out to appear on shirting, jackets, and jeans.
Exploring an array of treatments from raw indigo to vintage black and bleached washes, Dior Denim elevates traditional workwear with engineered cuts and opulent details including sheepskin collars and snap-stud buttons. Graphic elements abound, with the season’s club kid slogans appearing as DIY screen-printed details and the new roses embroidery as a bold shoulder patch on slim blousons. The look remains slim and relaxed throughout, with sleeveless gilet shapes for layering, and a balance of clean and distressed finishing”.
The event extended till February 25.
Visit the store located at 424 North Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles.

No. 4 West 43rd St. was built as the Hotel Renaissance in 1894 to the design of architect Clarence S. Luce. It is a nineteenth-century building that contributed to the transformation of the neighborhood from an area of stables and trolley yards into a district of social clubs and hotels. The renaissance revival style of the building is an elegant response to McKim, Mead & White’s earlier Century Club across the street. Clarence Luce was a noted designer of residence and hotels, and this building is an interpretation of the Renaissance palazzo-type in Beaux-Arts terms. Its monumental double-height columnar portico projects from a two-story rusticated base with historic storefronts. Above, the broad facade is articulated by simple windows, rhythmically repeated. The fifth-floor windows are more elaborately treated: each has a bracketed balustrade at the bottom, and is topped by a segmental-arched pediment carried on stone columns. A series of smaller windows flanked by cartouche panels forms a decorative attic frieze beneath a modillioned cornice and a crowning balustrade. The building became the Columbia University Club from 1915 until 1973 when it was purchased by the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, which hosts dozens of international NGOs, under 501(c)(3) status, serving the local community and the world.

Dan Guerrero, Renowned Producer, Actor, Writer and LGBTQ Activist To Be Honored on Opening Night February 9th
Boyle Heights, CA – (January 29, 2018) Josefina López, Founding Artistic Director of CASA 0101 Theater in Boyle Heights, CA announced today that CASA 0101 Theater is in danger of closing its doors. López said, “I opened CASA over 15 years ago. I started CASA to create opportunities for actors and writers and artists. This is the kind of place that I wanted when I was a little girl. I thought this would be my way of giving back to my community in Boyle Heights. But, unfortunately, we are on the brink of closing down because we can’t pay our rent, so we need your financial support. If you believe in what we are doing, please support us now.”
Emmanuel Deleage, Executive Director of CASA 0101 Theater, said: “In an effort to save CASA 0101 Theater, and keep our doors open, we have launched a Fundraising Campaign. We are looking for 350 people to become $25 monthly donors. It’s very easy to sign up on our website, http://www.casa0101.org/support-us. This will insure our financial stability. Presently we have 77 of the 350 donors. It’s very possible to do it, but without it, unfortunately we may have to close our doors. Over the years we have produced well over 100 plays, offered countless classes and presented many art exhibits. We invest heavily in our productions. Like many arts organizations, our theater is no longer able to sustain itself alone with our ticket sales and limited grants. We ask for your support so we can continue providing inspiring plays, so that we can continue making a difference in the lives of not only the community of Boyle Heights, but in the community of Los Angeles.” Learn more by visiting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_QA9mFetaKo and sharing the hashtag, #casa350.
Edward Padilla, President of CASA 0101 Theater’s Board of Directors, said: “I joined CASA 0101 because I believed in Josefina López’s vision, and because I saw an opportunity to inspire our local residents, our youth and parents, and to nurture self-confidence and emotional development in those outside our CASA walls. I think it’s a void we have helped to fill over the years. Josefina and I have been volunteering as teachers of various classes offered at CASA 0101 for free. We want to continue these important programs for the betterment of our community.”
Josefina López continued, “Moving forward over the next several months, as we make every effort to resolve the financial dilemma we are in presently, here is what to expect. CASA 0101 Theater will present ‘Brown & Out IV,’ A Play Festival of 10 World Premiere Short Plays Celebrating the LGBTQ+ Latinxperience, February 9 – March 4, 2018, along with a photo exhibition by Rolando Rodriguez, entitled “ropa sucia.” (dirty laundry) curated by Jimmy Ceneno, and a Ten Year 2008 – 2018 Retrospective Celebrating CASA 0101 Theater’s commitment to presenting and supporting Latinx LGBTQ+ themed plays and playwrights, curated by
Corky Dominguez; Chicanas, Cholas y Chisme VI, March 16 – April 15, 2018; a hopeful remount of our critically acclaimed and extremely popular production, rights”
“permitting, of Disney’s Beauty and The Beast, The Broadway Musical, produced with TNH Productions, May 4 – 27, 2018; and a World Premiere of a new play I am writing, called Remembering Boyle Heights, opening on June 8, 2018.”
López added, “In addition, to the productions, I will be offering a Five-Day Latino Screenwriting Class at CASA 0101 Theater from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., February 19 – 23, 2018 solely for students who identify as Latino and who wish to write Latino protagonists. This class is made possible by a grant from the Eastside Arts Initiative. To learn more and register, please visit: http://www.casa0101.org/shows/latin-screenwriting-academy. On March 4, 2018, the Boyle Heights Museum will open a new exhibit in the Jean Deleage Gallery at CASA 0101 Theater commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the East Los Angeles Student Walkouts. The exhibit will be presented by the USC Center for Diversity & Democracy in partnership with CASA 0101 Theater. As part of the California Endowment’s Building Healthy Communities Initiative, teachers Edward Padilla and
Corky Dominguez will also lead their FREE Youth Acting Program for Boyle Heights residents ages 16 – 21 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. from February 10 – April 21, 2018.”
CASA 0101 Theater will present “Brown & Out IV,” A Play Festival of 10 World Premiere Short Plays Celebrating The LGBTQ+ Latinxperience on the Main Stage of CASA 0101 Theater, 2102 East First Street (at St. Louis Street), Boyle Heights, CA 90033, on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at

This year’s Play Festival tackles themes of friendship, family, lovers, gender identity, HIV, suicide, religion, LGBTQ+ culture and old school vs. millennial differences.
