PROJECT ANGEL FOOD RAISES OVER $425,000 AT ANGEL ART AUCTION AT NEUEHOUSE HOLLYWOOD

June 10, 2017, Hollywood

Luminaries from the art world, collectors and celebrities came together at the Neuehouse in Hollywood for Angel Art, the prestigious art auction which benefits Project Angel Food.  Angel Art, now in its twenty-first year as a premier charity art auction, raised more than $425,000 for the non-profit, which is dedicated to providing healthy meals to people living with life threatening illness.

On hand for the competitive bidding were Saturday Night Live’s Molly Shannon and her husband, artist Fritz Chesnut, who had donated a work  which was purchased by KTLA-TV Vice President of News, Jason Ball, and his husband, Ernst & Young Executive Troy Jones. Other guests included: Actress Mischa Barton and her main squeeze James Abercrombie, philanthropist Sydney Holland and Manuela Herzer.  Harvey Reese and partner, Jonathan Murray, founder of Bunim/Murray Productions, purchased a David Hockney, in a fierce frenzy, outbidding Project Angel Food Board Member, Tim Robinson and his husband, Bob Cohen, Executive Vice President, 20th Century Fox, who determined to not be outbid again, secured the second Hockney. The stunning artworks from “The Yosemite Suite” series 2010 were drawn on an iPad by the 79-year-old artist, who has been a generous supporter for Project Angel Food since the beginning.

Richard Ayoub, Executive Director of Project Angel Food, said, “We are humbled and gratified by the outstanding response from the artists, collectors and galleries. And, we are grateful for the outpouring of love. This is especially meaningful as this year’s theme is ‘LOVE = ART.’”

Former Board Member, Janet McCormack, wife of actor Eric McCormack, purchased two art pieces, a Hadley Holliday and a Keith Mayerson. Artist Alexandra Grant, who also attended, donated her signature grantLOVE neon work.  In fierce bidding orchestrated by charismatic auctioneer Gabriel Butu, the original art piece valued at $15,000 reached $20,000 with three separate bidders. Alexandra offered to create two addition unique works. An anonymous Hollywood collector on the phone with Paddle8 purchased a Kenny Scharf. Also enjoying the excitement were Executive Vice President for Entertainment Banking Martha Henderson, from Presenting Sponsor, City National Bank, art appraiser and Chair of the Angel Art Benefit Committee Michael Maloney, Light Box gallery owner Kimberly Light, Project Angel Food Ambassador John Gile and his partner Interior Design Jeff Valenson. West Coast Director, Benefit Auctions, Paddle 8’s Kate Duggan McGlasson said, “It was an incredible privilege to witness such great generosity in our city, and in the art world both in the room and online with the Paddle8 community.”

Project Angel Food has served the community tirelessly for twenty-eight years, providing more than 10.5 million meals to men and women living with critical illness.  The kitchen, staff and volunteers prepare over 11,000 meals a week,  free of charge and medically tailored to the requirements of people living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, kidney failure, congestive heart disease and diabetes,  The mission is one of love, to feed and nourish the sick as they fight their battle.  Many of the clients are living well below the poverty line, and Project Angel Food is the lifeline filling a desperate need in all communities.  The client base is testimony to this fact, 40% Latino, 30% African-American, 21% Caucasian, 5% Asian and 4% other.

The MADE LA 2017 Experience: RZA, Opening Ceremony, Snoop Dogg, Joyrich, Wiz Khalifa, 424 and Pleasures

L.A. Live, Los Angeles, June 9-10, 2017

This year the fashion and cultural event MADE LA included Opening Ceremony’s Fall 2017 collection and RZA’s performance that took place on Friday, June 9.

On Saturday guests had a chance to watch the Joyrich X Snoop Dogg fashion show featuring Snoop’s son Cordell Broadus who made his modeling debut. It was also Cordell’s debut as a creative director.

The whole collection was inspired by Snoop’s lifestyle and his early career. The clothing line included blue bandanas, bikinis, hoodies, shorts, PJ pants, and knee-high socks. Models were walking, socializing and even smoking next to two classic cars on the stage.  Every detail referred to old school hip hop theme.

Model Shaun Ross opened the show.

Wiz Khalifa debuted his capsule collection at the 9 p.m. show. He collaborated with FourTwoFour and Pleasures. Models were walking the runway wearing mostly yellow tops and black bottoms that would remind anyone of Khalifa’s famous song “Black and Yellow” he later sang during the performance. The rapper performed with the members of Taylor Gang Ent. right on the runway.

Gap Launches ‘Bridging the Gap,’ a Film Celebrating American Optimism with Edward Enninful’s Directorial Debut

Starring Adwoa Aboah, Maria Borges, Christie Brinkley, Miles Chamley-Watson,

Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff,  Wiz Khalifa, Fernanda Ly, Casil Mcarthur, Lineisy Montero, Ellen Rosa, Jasmine Sanders, Yara Shahidi, and Alek Wek

 New York, June 6, 2017

Gap, the iconic American clothing brand, announces the launch of the film ‘Bridging the Gap,’ directed, cast and styled by Edward Enninful. The film is a celebration of American optimism shared by Enninful and Gap. Enninful selected a cast of individuals he’s worked with, championed and admired who embody American culture today. The iconic Gap basic white t-shirt serves as a blank canvas for each of the cast to take and make their own, offering a glimpse at how their differences unite them.

“I love the optimistic American style that Gap celebrates and the simplicity of the basic white t-shirt that allows you to be yourself,” said Enninful. “Growing up, I loved the imagery I saw from America as it celebrated being the land of the free and home of the brave. This project is about authenticity and people living their truths.”

“Gap is a quintessentially American brand and we strive to embody all of America in everything we do,” said Gap chief marketing officer Craig Brommers. “‘Bridging the Gap’ is about showing the many faces of what it means to be an American and bringing all of those sides together. Edward is the perfect partner in this project as he and Gap share an optimistic view of the world.”

The cast sings “Sunny” by Boney M., which conveys a message of optimism as a direct nod to the film’s concept, while each dances to their own rhythm displaying their individuality, and then come together as a symbol of unity.

Making of Film:

The Film:

The full cast includes:

Actress Priyanka Chopra: “Bridging the Gap’ is exactly what the world needs right now, there are so many gaps in  this world that need to be bridged and filled. The most important one for me is empowering women, women need to be given an opportunity to stand on their feet and do the best they can for themselves,” said Chopra.

Rapper Wiz Khalifa: “To me, ‘Bridging the Gap’ means making diversity more acceptable, by making it okay to look or act different. I do that by being myself,” said Khalifa.

Model and actress Christie Brinkley: “I see ‘Bridging the Gap’ as a statement of mutual humanity and freedom. Freedom for me means not being concerned what others think of or expect from me, but living my life with the intention of making the world a better place for others,” said Brinkley.

Model Casil Mcarthur: “It takes a lot of courage to be the person you want to be. I am ‘Bridging the Gap’ by  living my truth. I am not going to hide myself from the world,” said Mcarthur.

Other cast members include model and activist Adwoa Aboah, model Maria Borges, champion fencer Miles Chamley-Watson, theater, film and television actor Jonathan Groff, model Fernanda Ly, model Lineisy Montero, model Ellen Rosa, model and Instagram star Jasmine Sanders, actress and model Yara Shahidi, and model and designer Alek Wek.

The film is supplemented by a ‘Making Of’ video created by The Madbury Club featuring Enninful and the cast sharing their thoughts on what it means to bridge the gap and offering a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the film’s creation.
