Beverly Hills, California – Yesterday’s Eighth Annual Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance in Beverly Hills surpassed record attendance despite threatening weather reports.  Possible thunderstorms did not deter thousands of automobile enthusiasts who enjoyed what turned out to be a beautiful day at the enchanted estate where a full complement of 125 vintage automobiles were on display in this year’s Concours field.  Best of Show Concours d’Elegance went to Stan Lucas for his 1929 Lincoln Aero-Phaeton; and, Best of Show Concours de Sport was awarded to A&A Premier Classics for their 1954 Ferrari 500 Mondial.  The Concours honored Ferrari’s 70th anniversary and Lincoln’s 100th anniversary.  Beverly Hills Mayor Lili Bosse selected the 1935 Adler Trumpf, Junior Sports Roadster.  “I was drawn to the classic style, yet sporty feel of the Adler,” said Mayor Lili Bosse.  “It felt chic and elegant and I was thrilled to learn it is owned by a woman.”

Thousands of auto aficionados and urban explorers gathered at Greystone Mansion for this elegant event where exceptional automobiles and unique motorcycles graced the historic 18-acre estate in Beverly Hills.  Eugene Garcin’s 1934 Cotton was named Best Vintage Motorcycle.

“The Greystone Mansion Concours is unlike most any other automotive events because it offers something for everyone. Each year the show highlights a variety of remarkable cars that are rarely seen by the public and features a completely new field of entries annually,” commented Concours Director Cindy Brynan. “This is the 8th year of the event and was easily our most successful ever. We had the honor of receiving the most applications we have ever had for potential exhibitors.  We ultimately showcased 125 world class cars and 10 motorcycles. We thank our attendees and gracious sponsors for all of their support.”

Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance Signature Awards are designed by local artist Richard Pietruska, whose sculptured awards capture the essence of speed and movement of exotic automobiles of the past as well as the present.  The forms are exaggerated and curved to dramatize the unique character and quality of each automobile as it flows through space.

The Pietruska awards were given in two Best of Show categories and 15 Best of Class categories which included Cadillac, Classics, Corvette, Ferrari, Grand Touring, Jaguar, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Porsche Speedster, Post-War American, Post-War British, Post-War Sports, Rolls-Royce and Special Interest.  Nine Special Automobile Awards and three Motorcycle Awards were presented as well.   Entries are assessed per the “French” method of judging which emphasizes the overall impression of the given vehicle, taking into account such factors as originality, authenticity, design, styling, and elegance.  (Complete list of winners attached.)

In addition to the Best of Show awards, other Concours winners included Jaime Gesundheit’s 1964 Chevrolet Corvette, which received the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) Preservation Award and Petersen Automotive Museum’s 1948 Lincoln Continental received the National Automotive Heritage Award.

Guests of this premier Southern California Concours event also enjoyed gourmet food, libations from Tito’s, Stella Artois and Asombroso Fine Tequila and desserts by The Peninsula Hotel.   Guests also enjoyed a lecture, “Passion of the Collector” with Peyman Salehi, Senior Vice President of Private Client Services at City National Bank, and David Gooding, President of Gooding & Company, one of the world’s foremost automotive auction companies.  British Wheeler Dealer television personalities Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead presented lectures on “The Changing Collector Car Market” and “Where to Buy Best Cars.”  Real estate expert Jeff Hyland presented “The Legendary Estate of Beverly Hills,” and author, historian Steven Price, presented “Trousdale Estates:  Midcentury to Modern in Beverly Hills.”  Unique access to the interior of Greystone Mansion provided guests with a glimpse of rarely-seen rooms and the mansion’s first floor became a shopper’s delight, with a new automotive artist display upstairs.

The Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance was hosted by ABC7 television personality Dave Kunz and television host and automotive journalist, Donald Osborne.  The event is an annual fundraiser for the Friends of Greystone, a non-profit organization whose mission is the ongoing preservation and restoration of the estate, which is one of a handful of nationally registered historic landmarks in Southern California.

The event’s Founding Sponsors are Friends of Greystone and Gooding & Company.  Silver Sponsors:  Asombrosa Tequila, Auto Gallery, Bentley Beverly Hills/Aston Martin Beverly Hills (O’Gara Coach), Bouchon, BRM Watches, Chubb Insurance, City National Bank, KARMA Automotive, Meguiars, Montage Beverly Hills, Sotheby’s International Realty, Stella Artois (Annheuser Busch), Tito’s Handmade Vodka; Bronze Sponsors: Beverly Coachcraft, Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau, Burke Williams, Ferrari Beverly Hills, Ferrari Financial, Harry’s Auto Collision Center, HVA, Lexus Motors, Longshot Coffee, Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel, TESLA Motors, Wheeler Dealers; Media Sponsors:  Classic Car Seen, Highline Autos, LA Confidential, Sports Car Market, Vintage Motorsport, Vintage Roadcar, KABC 7.

MTV Awards Gifting Lounge at the SLS Hotel In Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, April 8th, 2017

By Sierra Claire

The SLS Hotel presented the MTV Awards Gifting Lounge event in Beverly Hills on Friday April 7. The gifting lounge included vendors and designers from several innovative companies from around the country. Celebrities and media attended the event before the MTV Movie and TV Awards to get in the spirit of the event and check out the interesting products. The event took place in the courtyard of the SLS hotel on a sunny day in Los Angeles and the space was filled with colorful displays from vendors.

There were several fashion and jewelry companies that came to exhibit and show off their products. One designer, JA designer collections, traveled all the way from Maine to show off her necklaces made from cloth and Bamboo. According to designer and owner Jane Arey she wanted to design something that could be worn several different ways but, didn’t want to work with scarves because she wanted her product to be versatile in many seasons. The necklaces made from materials such as polyester blend and bamboo were a big hit with guest s who enjoyed trying out the different styles. They came in several colors and the designer showed off how they could be styled into knots, twists and layers.

Another innovative jewelry designer was Caravan jewelers from Sedona Arizona. The designer and owner told me that she had originally started out a s affine jeweler but during the recession wanted to expand into more affordable jewelry. That led to the creation of her line of silk jewelry. She dies the silk strips in many different vibrant colors which she said are meant to represent gem colors so customers can still have a piece of ruby red or emerald green jewelry. The strips can be combined with a variety of bronze clasps to make necklaces and bracelets and pendants can also be added to the necklaces for an added sparkle. The collection was reminiscent of the desert vibes of Sedona and perfect for a relaxing vacation look.

The vendors ranged from casual and fun jewelry to more high end as well with an exhibition from Jewels by Durani which is based out of Los Angeles. The designer explained that her and her friend created the brand with pop culture inspired pieces. The jewelry was made out of a sterling silver base with gold or rose gold platings. The popular designs included necklaces with arrow pendants and another design with Arabic writing. It was a very popular booth.

Another pop culture inspired brand was Whimzey t-shirts. The line of sassy and girly t-shirts is based in Georgia and the designer said she often gets inspiration form the girls who work in her office. She had several collection including a southern inspired line as well as a line based on movies and TV shows. One of the most popular shirts among guests was the Flawless shirt which read, “Flawless n. a person who embraces their flaws and loves themselves”

There were also several beauty products and the Nail Alliance took their inspiration from Los Angeles when they created the Baywatch Nail polish collection full of bright California colors inspired by the movie remake coming out this Spring. The 90s revival trend is definitely still going strong and has even made its way into nail polish!

Other popular vendors included the Jessica Simpson children’s line, Luseta hair and beauty products Townsley Girl Cosmetics and the popular celebrity health food company Modus whose clients include names such as Carrie Underwood and pro-athletes. The event was full all day and guests enjoyed trying new products and taking their picture on the red carpet.

Kering, official partner to the Festival de Cannes, Has Chosen Isabelle Huppert as the 2017 Face of Women in Motion.

For 3 years, Women in Motion has shone a spotlight on women’s contribution to cinema through a series of discussions between major figures from the film world and two Awards in celebration of talented women in film.

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Cannes International Film Festival, to be held from 17 to 28 May 2017, Kering, an official partner to the Festival has chosen a portrait of Isabelle Huppert for the official poster of the third annual Women in Motion programme. Her penetrating gaze dominates the photograph, which draws on the aesthetics of the silver screen in vibrant homage to the power of women in cinema.

A leading actress universally acclaimed for her filmography featuring the world’s greatest directors, Isabelle Huppert is an iconic figure in film, and in particular at the Festival de Cannes, where she was president of the Jury in 2009, and where she has been awarded the Best Actress Prize on two separate occasions. Her career, like the roles she plays, is a genuine source of inspiration for the public.

Launched in 2015, Women in Motion endeavours to focus our attention on the crucial role of women in film, and to the importance of continuing to fight for greater equality and access to opportunities for talented young women.

Throughout the Festival, a series of Talks, open to both journalists and film professionals, will enable major industry figures to compare and contrast experiences and views on women’s contribution to film, and to share their recommendations for greater representation within the sector.

The 2016 discussions, which featured Jodie Foster, Juliette Binoche, Susan Sarandon, Geena Davis, Chloë Sevigny, Houda Benyamina, Alice Winocour and Salma Hayek Pinault, focused on a variety of questions, including the problem of financing for films directed by women or about women, inequalities in salary and the lack of representation of women and their work on screen.

Kering and the Festival de Cannes will also be awarding the Women in Motion Awards to two talented film industry figures at the official event dinner on Sunday, 21 May 2017. The first will go to an emblematic figure in film, whose career inspires others and embodies the programme’s values, while the Young Talents Award will be awarded to a promising rising film industry professional chosen by the first prize-winner. Worth €50,000, it will help support one or several of the winner’s film projects.

At last year’s event, the Women in Motion Awards went to Geena Davis and Susan Sarandon, reunited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the cult film Thelma & Louise, and to three young directors: Leyla Bouzid, Gaya Jiji and Ida Panahandeh.

‘As is still the case in far too many walks of life, women are under-represented and disadvantaged in the film world, despite their priceless contribution to everything that makes cinema what it is. Promoting gender equality lies at the heart of Kering’s priorities, which is why I am proud to be involved in this fight, alongside the Festival de Cannes. For three years now, Women in Motion has been a leading forum in changing mindsets, celebrating the most extraordinary figures in our industry and offering practical support to talented women.’

François-Henri Pinault, Chairman and CEO of Kering

‘I am delighted to have joined forces with Kering to showcase the value of women and their role in film. This is a cause that deserves all our attention, and it is crucial to raise awareness among the many festival-goers who visit Cannes each year. Through Women in Motion, we look forward, at the 70th Festival de Cannes, to being able to continue to strive for greater female representation in the film world.’

Pierre Lescure, President of the Festival de Cannes

‘Once again this year, the Women in Motion programme will form a key part of the Festival de Cannes. We are delighted that an initiative designed to highlight the contribution of women can flourish at the Festival and increase in visibility with every passing year. It is vital to give everyone a chance to express their views on the subject, share concrete examples of inequality and suggest ways of fighting them.’

Thierry Frémaux, General Delegate of the Festival de Cannes

Launched in 2015 by Kering, in partnership with the Festival de Cannes, Women in Motion is an integral part of the Festival’s official programme. The initiative is based on two pillars: Talks open to journalists and industry professionals which give major figures the opportunity to compare and contrast their experiences and viewpoints around the question of women’s contribution to cinema, and to pool their recommendations for greater representation within the industry. The two Women in Motion Awards are awarded each year to an inspiring figure who embodies the programme’s values, and to a young film industry professional, who receives funding support for cinematographic projects.

0

Beverly Hills, April 1, 2017

On Saturday April 1 the LA Fashion Showcase and the American Heart Association put on the Rock the Red event at a private residence in Beverly Hills to raise awareness for heart disease in America. The event included a fashion show presentation with several designers as well as entertainment in the beautiful garden setting on the sunny Los Angeles day. The first designer to open the show was Tatiana who is a Belarussian designer in LA. Tatiana presented her collection Contrast which went perfectly with the theme of the event featuring colors of red and orange.

Tatiana spoke to Hollywood Glam magazine after her show and explained some of the inspirations she used to design her artistic and bold pieces. The collection combined Western and Russian influences from her life as a Russian-American designer as well as elements form some of her favorite artists Chagal and Kandinsky. Her show was also unique because it included dance performances at the start and finish of the show. The dresses she presented were elegantly designed for Bachata dancing which she told us is one of her favorite pastimes. She wore the first dress she had ever designed to present her collection which she made as a dress to wear bachata dancing in her favorite color orange.  The collection overall was a favorite among the crowd and even the jewelry was handpicked with the event and cause in mind. The jewelry designer also spoke to Hollywood glam and shared that she had enjoyed partnering with Tatiana at past events and was so excited to continue their collaboration for this great cause.
