PERSONA: Rising Star KORR-A Attends BET Experience 2016 Fashion Event

Rising star Kristina Korban, known as KORR-A, is a not only a beautiful model, actress, film producer but also a talented dancer and singer. She has thousands of followers on her Instagram @korr_a and over a million views of her music video Fiyacraka. We met her at BET Awards Fashion Technology Bazaar hosted by Cynthia Bailey. The event took place on June 25th and was a part of BET Experience Week celebration. KORR-A seemed to enjoy overall BET Experience and shared her thoughts with us.

HGM.: Hi Korr-a! Nice to finally meet you! Is it your first time at BET Experience?

KORR-A: No, it’s not my first time here.

HGM.: What do you like about it?

KORR-A: I think it’s a great way to celebrate everything that has been done in this industry especially for BET Community, and it’s just a lot of fun.

HGM.: What makes you enjoy hip hop industry and hip hop music?

KORR-A: I like everything about it: people speaking about subjects that matter to them, really vocalizing everything that’s important and comes from the heart. They are expressing themselves, and that’s what I love about it.

HGM.: What made you to become a hip hop artist?

KORR-A: It was natural, I guess. I’ve always been a dancer, and you can dance hip hop/dance music, so that’s what I always wanted to do, to make music people could move to and have a good time too. Here I am!

HGM.: I know your success came with the video FIYACRAKA and your choreography there is just amazing. Are you a professional dancer?

KORR-A: I’ve been dancing all my life. That music video was really cool because I had a lot of people I grew up dancing with in the video with me, so it was a lot of fun to just create a project with someone you know so well.

HGM.: Did you enjoy the video making process itself?

KORR-A: Yeah, absolutely. I loved it!

HGM.: What did you like the most about it?

KORR-A: I think we shot that video for over 24 hours straight and I didn’t have time to take a nap but I loved it, that feeling you have at the end of the day when you feel so drained that you almost feel hyper, and I just love it.

HGM.: I know you had couple more videos after that. Let’s talk about it.

KORR-A:  I released couple more songs, my latest one is Heart Of Glass produced by  Dave Aude and Everybody Gets Down produced by Kizzo, and they both are doing really well. One is more of a club track, and the other one is more of a pop music, the direction I am transitioning a little bit to. I got a lot of support and great feedback recently.

HGM.: Do you have a lot of fans/followers on your Instagram or Snapchat?

KORR-A: Yeah, I definitely do, and the number is growing. It’s good to know that people like what I do and support me. It’s a great feeling. Just keep it up!

IMG_7451

HGM.: How would you describe your unique style?

KORR-A: I would describe it as kind of edgy, fearless and “I don’t care what people think” style. I don’t always wear nor do what others do, and that’s fine. I believe individuality is what gets you noticed and what people look up to.

HGM.: Who is your biggest inspiration?

KORR-A: I think one of my favorite artists is Fergie.  I definitely look up to her because she does what I do, she does kind of rap thing, she sings, she is really edgy and spunky, and cool. She’s been around the Globe and back just doing her thing and being herself.

HGM.: What’s next for you?

KORR-A.: I am currently working on EP and I have a single coming out as well. It’s called California. It’s coming out in July.

HGM.: Can you reveal any details?

KORR-A.: It’s a fun song about loving California. I obviously live in California and like it a lot.

HGM.: Do you consider yourself a typical California girl?

KORR-A: No, not at all. I feel like in California everyone is always in a good mood, happy and relaxed enjoying life, and we have to go back to California for providing us with that mood, you know?

HGM.: I know you are also a model. Do you like modeling?

KORR-A: I am not against it but it’s not the direction I am mainly focusing on. People just love my look and always want me to do promo for them.

HGM.: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be an artist?

KORR-A: I would say “just do it” as soon as you even have that little light bulb in your head, start as soon as possible and just do it and don’t let anybody stop you, don’t think about it twice, trust me, that’s the only way it’s gonna happen. Don’t waste your time.

Moschino and Tyler, The Creator Rock The Runway at Made L.A. Fashion

Photos by Misha Urubkov

Since Made has been already known by launching its shows in New York, this time it debuted in Los Angeles making the whole City talking about it as one of the most expected events of the year. The two day venue was marked by Moschino and Tyler, The Creator collections shown at the legendary LA LIVE Deck. Famous Creative Director of Moschino Jeremy Scott presented his Men’s Spring 2017 and Women’s Resort 2017 collections during the opening night of Made LA.  Famous singer Katy Perry, TV personality Caitlyn Jenner, model and actress Amber Rose, singer and TV personality Christina Milian, famous European musician and model Stromae and other celebs attended the show to watch Victoria’s Secret best models Alessandra Ambrósio and Miranda Kerr walking the fancy runway decorated with balloons and inflatable stars and flowers that would remind you about summer pool parties. Cindy Crawford took the whole family with her to support the 16 year old Presley Gerber who made his model debut on the runway. Another celebrity, Gigi Hadid was excited to see her brother Anwar wearing the Moschino clothing on the stage. The collection could be described as celebration of bright colors and modern style cuts Jeremy Scott is so famous for. Hawaiian motives, umbrella hats and big hats with floral prints, bags and totes rich in details made this line truly unique. The show ended up with the after party where fashion bloggers had a chance to talk to the designer and make selfies.

The very next day was also full of surprises. Inspiring designer and hip hop artist Tyler, The Creator made a runway debut of his clothing line called Golf Wang. Kanye West and Kendall Jenner showed up to support the young talent.

The spectacular runway show started with the designer appearing on the stage decorated as a nice teen room. Tyler wakes up, puts on his signature clothes and gets ready to have some fun. The next moment we see teen models riding bikes and skateboarding right on the stage framed with big flowers.

The collection shown was dedicated to young people who wear every day simple but stylish clothes by Tyler, The Creator.  At the end of the show the designer gave a speech about a tough childhood and big recognition of his fashion style later in his life. He also made the audience happy by letting them know how to obtain pieces of Golf Wang right after the show.

Made LA ended up with another big thing to watch out: over 30 designers presented their lines during the two-day market Stores event.

PERSONA: Persian Beauty and TV Host Shirin Malekzadeh talks about her American Dream

0

Photos by Greg Doherty.

She is sitting next to me talking about her amazing experience of being a TV host and a makeup artist. Shirin is beautiful and energetic, yet serious about everything she does. She has not only made a successful career on Persian TV but also got a great opportunity to collaborate with the Giorgio Armani brand. A true fashion icon and makeup artist/hairstylist, Persian Native Shirin Malekzadeh is optimistic about her upcoming career as a host on American TV channel. We talked to Shirin about pursuing her Hollywood dreams.

HGM: Shirin, nice to meet you. Please, tell us a little bit about yourself.

S.: It’s a pleasure to meet you, first of all. I am a hair and makeup artist and also a TV host. I have some modeling experience but haven’t been in modeling that much. I am glad I finally met Oskar (Oskar Rivera, PR – author) and we’ve been working together. We recently had a photoshoot. So far, so good.

HGM.: Let’s talk about your experience of being a TV host.

S.: I’ve been hosting a Persian TV channel. I had two shows there. I’d been with the TV for about two or three years. Even I loved being in front of the camera but since I was producing my own show, it was a lot of work for me besides my other Giorgio Armani full time job, so I had no choice other than to stop the show.

HGM.: How did it all start?

S.: When I went for an interview, the TV owner suggested to me: “Let’s go on air live”. I was shocked since it was my first time but it was a perfect test for me. It was nerve wracking (laughs) but after we made it, I felt it was fun. He told me we did good. That was kind of an icebreaker for me, and after that we started my own show. I loved it!

IMG_2722

HGM.: I know you were also a producer of your shows. How did it feel for you?

S.: It was hard in terms of finding all subjects to talk about, videos, pictures… everything! It was time consuming as well but once you get in front of the camera, you forget about all hard work. It’s like, “ok, here we go!” Being a host is fun. I started with Persian TV but my goal is to become a host of an American show.

HGM.: You mentioned you are a stylist…

S.: Yes, I am a hairstylist and a makeup artist, and also I am kind of managing Giorgio Armani cosmetic line too. Beauty is my passion. I love to be in entertainment but, again, my real passion is being in front of the camera.

IMG_2725

HGM.: An advice to someone who wants to be successful as a host?

S.: You gotta be a go-getter. You have to start from the bottom sometimes and when you have a dream, it comes true. Mine happened when I was on Persian TV but my main dream hasn’t happened yet. I also believe you have to stay focused on what you want and what you love. And you have to be yourself in front of the camera.

HGM.: Can you recall the best moments of being a host?

S.: The best part of it was to see a lot of handsome and good looking people, lots of Persian celebrities, to work on the red carpet sometimes! The best thing of being a TV host is to receive great comments from all these beautiful people, it was a positive energy for me, I loved it. I had a lot of viewers. I still receive messages from my fans.

IMG_2719

HGM.: Are you on Facebook, Instagram? How can we follow you?

S.: I’ve just started Snapchat, trying to figure out how it works (laughs). You can find me on Facebook, and I am still working on Instagram.

HGM.: How does it work for you?

S.: When I was on TV, I posted the videos of my shows and fashion tips on my social media pages.

HGM.: What are your strengths?

IMG_2718

S.: Since being a successful host is my biggest dream, I never get tired of being in front of the camera. I am a go-getter, and when I have a goal, I will get there. Also, I am a very positive person. Even when I have a bad day, I still keep my head up.

HGM.: And you have a gorgeous smile! What is a secret of your Persian beauty?

S.: Take care of yourself! Work out, don’t miss gym, and eat right and healthy. Always do your hair, your nails and make up. I think Instagram is a big help to follow the newest beauty trends.

HGM.: How does your average day look like?

S.: I’m a  business manager at Giorgio Armani Cosmetics working with this brand  5 days a week, I freelance hair and make up on the side and also do charity events /red carpets as well.

HGM.: You favorite places in Hollywood/LA?

S.: There are many great restaurants in West Hollywood. I grew up in Toronto, Canada, and it’s totally different lifestyle here that I love. I think I am the right fit here.

IMG_2717

HGM.: One thing that would always make you happy is…

S.: My coffee. Doubleshot espresso (laughs). As long as I have caffeine in my blood, I am good. Sometimes, when I have a stressful day, I go to gym.

HGM.: Do you do a lot of shopping and what is your favorite brand?

S.: I am a shopaholic. I love Christian Louboutin shoes and Chanel purses. Recently, what’s hot in fashion right now is Celine. I love Celine purses! I mix and match when it comes to clothing. I buy Chanel and Dior, a lot of different brands.

HGM.: Do you have a fashion icon?

S.: Jennifer Lopez.

HGM.: What celebs would you like to interview?

S.: J. Lo and Kim Kardashian. And George Clooney. That would be my dream.

HGM.: Do you have a lot of experience interviewing on the red carpet?

S.: I did some interviews for Persian TV. Hopefully, I will be doing another one soon with Oskar Rivera. We’ll see.

HGM.: What your “perfect” man looks like?

S.: Tall body, not skinny, but not too big. Being a gentleman is the most important for me. I would love to have a family one day.

HGM.: Do you think it’s possible to manage a personal life and career?

S.: You should be able to manage both.

HGM.: Who is your biggest support?

S.: I am very close to my mom. She lives in Canada right now but we talk three to four times a day.
