The Man Who Saved The World Is A Wake Up Call For Our Society

We all remember about the recent Fukushima nuke leak, the 1986 Chernobyl tragedy, atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and other nuclear disasters that still remind us that our planet is in danger of being completely destroyed one day.

International Uranium Film Festival/The Atomic Age Cinema Festival, founded in Brazil and now being promoted in many countries worldwide, took place in Hollywood on April 27th. “The festival is dedicated to all films about nuclear power and the risks of radioactivity, from uranium mining to nuclear waste. It throws light on all nuclear issues”, as the official source says.

The event included the red carpet, Atomic Film screenings, a Nuclear Power Panel of Speakers and an after party. Actor Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore show), Ken Davitian (Borat), Eliza Dushku (Angel), Massi Furlan (The Dark Knight Rises), French model Jade Leboeuf, model and actress Dustin Quick (NCIS), Flamenco guitarist Medi Em, and Estella Sneider (radio host LIVE Today) joined the beautiful host Kate Kramer, daughter of the legendary film director Stanley Kramer and the founder of the Films That Change the World documentary series, as well as the panelists Mimi Kennedy, Harvey Wasserman, Loe Gossett Jr., Esai Morales and Libbe HaLevy for a film review and discussion. Everyone enjoyed watching the feature/documentary Award winning Danish movie The Man Who Saved The World (2014,) by director Peter Anthony.  The film tells the story about Soviet Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov, who prevented a nuclear war in 1983 (during the Cold War Era between the Soviet Union and the US) by making a personal decision and refusing to follow protocol after receiving information that American missiles were heading toward his country. The information that Petrov’s team received on their computer wasn’t confirmed later. The colonel got recognized as a hero many years after. He visited the United States, made a speech at the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, met with Robert De Niro, Matt Damon and his favorite actor Kevin Costner.

The former lieutenant colonel portrays himself telling the story from his own view. He talks about the difficulty of making the most important decision in his life. The theme of “a person versus the system” (especially when we are talking about the Communist regime) is something that the film director wants us to think about. Another important idea highlighted in the movie is “a Man and Mother Nature”. As the main character tries to go back to his roots, his family, his mother he hasn’t been close to for many years, the same way our humanity needs to reconnect with the planet Earth by destroying all nuclear weapons that already became the symbol of the modern civilization. No need to mention, Stanislav’s wife Raya dies from cancer, the modern “number one killer” caused by bad ecology.

After the movie, the panelists discussed the importance of social movement and fighting for shutting down all nuclear power plants, especially the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant located right here, in California. They explained the danger of the potential radioactive leak and the importance of discussing this problem in mass media.

The evening ended up with an after party where guests enjoyed food and drinks.

BritWeek in association with the UK Government took place in Los Angeles from April 27th to May 8th. There were several great events dedicated to celebrating “Axis Of Innovation” between Britain and California.  Some of the guests got lucky to attend star studded red carpet and fashion shows organized in the legendary UNICI CASA event space. The owners and hosts Michael R. Foroutan and his beautiful wife Kathy Zahedi-Foroutan invited British actors, models and other celebs to enjoy two of their events: Designer Of The Year Fashion Show Honoring  Julien Macdonald (May 5th) and the event BRIT featuring the iconic British designer Zandra Rhodes (May 7th).

Celebrity designer Julien Macdonald is well known for being discovered by guru Karl Lagerfeld and working for Chanel several years ago. He later succeeded Alexander McQueen as a chief designer at Givenchy. Today he promotes his own label and makes collections that can blow your mind. What happens when the best car show takes place in the historic Doheny Greystone Estate with over a dozen films shot there? That’s when you have the most successful event in Beverly Hills.

On May 1st a sold out crowd of thousands of auto aficionados and urban explorers gathered at Greystone Mansion for this elegant event where these exceptional automobiles and more than 20 unique motorcycles graced the historic 18-acre estate in Beverly Hills. A 1939 Brough Superior SS 80 was named Best Vintage Motorcycle, a 1980 BMWR100 was named Best Custom Motorcycle and a 1954 BMW R 51/3 was named Best Preservation Motorcycle.

“This is the 7th year of the event and was easily our most successful ever. We had the honor of receiving the most applications we have ever had for potential exhibitors. We ultimately showcased 135 world class cars and 20 motorcycles. We thank our attendees and gracious sponsors for all of their support.” Local artist Richard Pietruska, a highly respected professor at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, was commissioned to create custom Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance signature awards. The sculptured awards capture the essence of speed and movement of the more exotic automobiles of the past as well as the present. The forms are exaggerated and curved to dramatize the unique character and quality of each automobile as it flows through space.

The Pietruska awards were given in 18 Best of Class categories and in two Best of Show categories. Nine Special Automobile Awards and three Motorcycle Awards were presented as well. Entries are assessed per the “French” method of judging which emphasizes the overall impression of the given vehicle, taking into account such factors as originality, authenticity, design, styling, and elegance.
In addition to the Best of Show awards, other concours winners included a 1967 Alfa Romeo GTA/P 1600 Corsa, which received the Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens (FIVA) Preservation Award; a 1961 Ferrari 250 SWB Berlinetta received the HVA “This Car Matters” Award; a 1931 Chrysler Imperial CG Dual Cowl Phaeton was the Mayor’s Choice recipient; and, the Spirit of Greystone Award was presented to a 1932 Lincoln KB Roadster.
For the first time, 2016 Greystone Mansion Concours d’Elegance offered a Preservation Class category verifying that each car in this class is original and unrestored. The Preservation Class award went to a 1967 Porsche, 911S. Other world class automobiles were featured in categories for Alfa Romeo, Cadillac-LaSalle, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Grand Touring, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Morgan, Packard, Porsche, Post-war American, Post-war British, Pre-war American, Pre-war European, Shelby and Special Interest.
Guests of this premier Southern California concours event also enjoyed gourmet food, libations from Tito’s, Stella Artois and Asombroso Fine Tequila and desserts by Sugarfina. Guests also enjoyed expert-led lectures with Peyman Salehi, Senior Vice President of Private Client Services at City National Bank, and David Gooding, President of Gooding & Company, one of the world’s foremost automotive auction companies, and British Wheeler Dealer television personality Mike Brewer. Unique access to the interior of Greystone Mansion provided guests with a glimpse of rarely-seen rooms and the mansion’s first floor became a shopper’s delight, with a new automotive artist display upstairs.

Los Angeles, CA – May 1st, 2016 – The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 43rd Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards in a grand gala held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites in downtown Los Angeles, CA.

Henceforth, she has to bundle her whole craft and energy, to find a job who make her life plausible. She finds a job, who pull´s her of the dark – deepest side in a range of ill people, strength of violence and beside this was of following alcohol and drugs.

In these intensive pictures, tells the story about a merciless Situation and with the focus without any exit. Gia, the protagonist is very intelligent and strong to stately to manage her life in a hopeful new world ‘.

Romane Simon, the producer of this heart – sensitive film, promises a dramatically drive under the skin. The young Filmmaker is also responsible as director, author and screenwriter.

From his home in Haiti (his grandfather was the former president of Haiti, started Romane his dream to work in this media segment in Florida and moved later to L.A.

Before, he visited the New York Film Academy and collective more education and polished his skills. Until now, Romane produced a lot of projects in different kinds of genres. His favourite one of these is tragedy. The passionate stunt – coordinator brings also his experience in MMA Fighting (Mixed Martial Arts), into the ventures. Since of a five years young age boy, he trains massive this special Boutstyle.

On the other side, you can see the typical hot – blood temperament out of the Caribbean. Dancing – this fervour, inspired by his idol Michael Jackson, is also inseparable.

The realistic well – known Lifewatcher, moved as a rough diamond through the scene. High talented in variety species in that genre of filming, gives him a wide range of power in creativity and incessantly in the way of sanguinity.

Exceptional is his Aura always around the set. Concentrated by his work, he functioned as a lovely patron surrounding the whole staff of the set. Kindness, smooth and peaceful are one of his brilliant straight character. Romane’s extraordinary positive energy is verily contractible.

A huge talented cast worked into this movie under Romane´s direction. “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” won “Movie of the Year” at the 25th anniversary edition of the “MTV Movie Awards,” held tonight outdoors for the first time ever on the Warner Bros. Studios backlot in Burbank, CA.  More than 2,000 screaming fans and Hollywood’s hottest turned out to see hosts Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, performers Ariana Grande and Halsey, and many, many more take the stage to honor the year’s fan-favorite films and stars.

 

 

The “2016 MTV Movie Awards” built on the show’s reputation for wild and visually stunning moments.  Hosts Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart entered through the crowd on a flaming “Mad Max”-style war rig, escorted by an entourage of drum-pounding war boys.  Ryan Reynolds received a surprise serenade by hip hop legends Salt-N-Pepa of their classic “Shoop” – featured in his film “Deadpool” – as he accepted the award for Best Comedic Performance.  And comedy trio The Lonely Island kicked it old school in half-buckled overalls for a medley of MTV Generation Award-winner Will Smith’s greatest hits.

The evening also included exclusive sneak peeks at highly anticipated films “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” ”Captain America: Civil War” and the world premiere of the Blitz Trailer for “Suicide Squad.”
