In early February Beverly Hills was thrilled by a great event: the famous Seyhoun Art Gallery located on Melrose Avenue became a perfect platform for a successful solo exhibition Terra Incognita by Russian Contemporary artist Alexey Klokov. His paintings already got international recognition and were featured at art platforms of Russia, Japan, Austria, the UK and the US. Famous politicians, businessmen and big names of show biz are among Alexey’s fans who keep his paintings in their home art collections.
There were total of ten art pieces presented for LA art lovers and critics. The collection was drawn together from all around the world. The portion of the exhibition was transported from the artist’s workshop in Moscow, Russia; some pieces were provided by Berenson Fine Art Gallery (Toronto,Ontario); the others came directly from I.B.Clark Gallery (New Hope, USA). Among the paintings presented at LA exhibition one could see the famous Autobiography Alexey is well known for. This piece is a symbol of the artist’s whole life path. The painting is unique in its style and composition, since it reflects the measured color of the background that supports a kind of writing in tongues. Many roman letters stand out as well as Cyrillic characters, but the meaning must become an intensely personal one in the face of no deciphering document. These elements are distinct from the base layers much like in the artist’s other paintings creating depth and focus. This interplay can be constructed as the creation of Alexey Klokov’s own artistic and philosophic language that the critics called dialectics in color.
The exhibition also presented the art pieces from the series Harmony of Two, Not, Awakening, and Reflection, as well as his abstract paintings. From the moment of its opening, the exhibition was visited and scored by a lot of guests. Based on the high interest in Alexey’s art, the organizers made a decision to prolong the exhibition that was initially planned to showcase on February 2-8th.
